Final scary story

If you would like to see what this is about, go ahead and scroll down, you will see exactly what the title says, "Final Scary Story." This was revised by me, Ms. Sara, my classmates and Mr. Joshua. Without them, my story wouldn't be as good as it is

Video Evidence

An abandoned airport has been in this city for a long time. No one has dared go inside. Luke and Jasmine dared their friend, Ruben, to live in the airport for a week without chickening out. Ruben, being the daredevil that he was, accepted the dare without a doubt. He knew that no one had been in the airport for a long time, but that didn’t stop him from continuing with the dare. People warned him about the dangers of staying inside the Airport, that there would be ghosts inside who would then kill him in the end. Most people would go inside, and never re-appear.

Luke drove Ruben over to the airport and his first day finally started. Luke being afraid didn’t want to stay there. He decided to just drop off his friend outside and drive away, leaving Ruben all by himself at the abandoned airport. Most of the rumors that were heard  were mostly about hauntings inside from people that died from unusual causes, such as curses, ghosts and demons.

Once Ruben went inside, he took out his camera and began to record. He knew he better record his stay so people could then know the truth about the airport. He started to record while he gave himself a tour around the place. There were skylights on the airport and he made sure he had light, even in the smallest corner in the room. There was dust everywhere, spiderwebs and shadows reflecting his body from the skylights. He didn’t want people to miss any parts of the airport, even if it meant using a flashlight.

Ruben was sitting on a sofa with the camera on and facing him. He noticed that a chair that was in the middle of the room had tilted to face him. He thought it was nothing, ¨Probably just a gust of air, or something.¨

He suddenly started to hear scratching, like the kind that comes from fingernails on glass. He walked over to the waiting room and shined the light everywhere and in every corner. When he finally pointed the flashlight at the Departures and Arrivals screen, he saw scratch marks starting at the top and coming all the way down. His face scrunched up in confusion as he started at the marks, nothing could change how he was feeling, confused, suspicious and a small part afraid.

Once he got a good look at the scratches, he went back to the couch and decided he would go to sleep. Ruben left his camera on and recording and laid down on the couch. Since he was so sleepy, he never noticed the shadow that was positioned on the chair in the room, away from him, but cautiously watching him. He slept until it was morning and when he woke up he found the camera in the same position and noticed that it hadn’t turned off and the battery was still full. It was strange since the camera had only two bars of battery left when he had gone to sleep.

He went to the bathrooms, and to his surprise, there were fingerprints with blood on the mirrors. It seemed like there was someone who had pressed their hands against the mirror and tried to form a word of some kind. Ruben tried his best to figure out the words. He saw that the first word was GET and the second started with an O, GET OUT. Ruben had no idea why it said that, and his face, once again, scrunched up with confusion and terror. Once he headed back to the couch and realized that the chair that was in the middle of the room was now gone.

Six days finally passed and he was growing to like the Airport’s large and quiet environment. Of course, at times he felt lonely but at times he would feel at home, except quieter and without siblings. He knew he can make it out alive but if he does, he would have living proof that there is nothing wrong about the airport. That it’s completely safe and no one should be afraid to go inside.

Before he even had time to react, he started to feel like something was pulling him. He couldn’t fight it. Screaming, Ruben tried to pull away as much as he could but only found himself getting closer and closer to the hallway. It was usually illuminated, but now it was dark.

Ruben ran from the airport and as soon as his feet touched the grass, the gates opened. He started to run from them but they immediately closed on him as soon as he tried to leave. The iron from the gates pulsed into his skin as he pushed and pulled on the doors.

On Ruben’s last day, all of his friends, Jasmine and Luke, were outside of the Airport, waiting. They didn’t know Ruben would never come out. They didn’t know he couldn’t leave. They didn’t know he was DEAD. After an hour passed, Jasmine grabbed her phone from the cup holder and proceeded to make a call, to the Police Station, where he would ask for help on finding his friend.

“Hello, 9-1-1 emergency. Please state the reason for your call,” the receiver responded immediately.
“Hello! My friend stayed in the abandoned Airport and hasn’t come out in two hours. We think something happened to him. Could you send some people over here! Please?” Luke cried for help.
“Right away. We will send some people and they will be there in 10 minutes,” the call ended and all of the friends looked at each other for compassion, but there wasn’t any on their faces. The only thing projected was concern.

Ten minutes exactly passed and there were five cop cars around the front of the Airport. All of them came over to the pair of friends and immediately started to ask them questions.
“Are you friends of Ruben Mancillas?” the first cop said and they nodded, “We would like to know what happened here and why we recieved a call to come here.”
“Our friend, we dared him to go live in the airport for a week and he did. Today he was supposed to come out and see us so he could show us that it’s completely safe, despite the rumors that were spread. He hasn’t come out and we are worried. Could you go in there and check?” Jasmine said as both cops nodded and walked back to their squad cars, quickly grabbing guns and running inside with everyone who had gotten here with them following along.

Once they came out, they had news. Bad news.

“I’m so sorry. We found his body. He’s dead. We found a camera that was on. We will take that into inspection. For now, you kids should go home. I will warn Ms. Mancillas.” Luke gasped and Jasmine’s face immediately changed, from happy go-lucky to pure terror and fear.

“Okay, we have video evidence of everything that happened while he was staying there from the camera that we found as evidence in the airport.” Luke nodded while the Police Investigator said this, ¨And we brought you all in as Suspects. We think you guys killed Ruben Mancillas.¨

The TV in the room suddenly turned on and the video started. You could see Ruben and he was walking around with the camera. He was recording everything and I quickly took notice of the scratches that were on “Boarding Flights.” The scratches took up most of the board and then both friends noticed a shadow in the room. Of course, Ruben didn't notice but the camera captured everything. Afterwards, you could clearly see that Ruben had put the camera on the couch, facing himself. Suddenly, out of nowhere, you saw the same shadow, but behind Ruben. The shadow suddenly got a hold of him and started to pull him over to a dark hallway. Ruben ran and headed outside but then you could see the shadow, once again, grabbing a hold of him and yanking him back inside. Once Ruben and the shadow disappeared into the dark hallway, no one ever came back. The video ended and both Jasmine and Luke had no words to explain what they saw.

Trying to object, both friends explained how Ruben had stayed in the airport, but none of the officers believed them. They arrested both Jasmine and Luke, without knowing the truth. Just through investigation, their first thought was that the friends, had killed Ruben.
