Introducing Spanish
What does Spanish mean to me?
To me, Spanish means my past, my present and my future. It means where I come from, who I was as a child and how Spanish shaped me, and how it could affect me as a bilingual adult. It's a way that I am connected to my ancestors, my grandparents and my great grandparents. It means a lot to me because it's the language I grew up around and learning and expanding my language helps a lot whenever I might need help.
Why is learning more than one language important?
Learning more than one language is important because you are able to obtain and open more doors for your future in whatever career you decide to do. Being bilingual helps in obtaining a job that requires someone with two languages or when you are a translator.
What topics do I want to learn about in this class?
I would love to learn more about the culture, the food that is made and where everything originated from in Mexico. It's always been important to me to learn about where I come from and everything there is to know about my culture and my ethnicity.
What am I excited about in this class?
I am excited to be able to help my classmates who need Spanish tutoring with certain words, sentences or phrases to say in Spanish. Since I speak fluently in Spanish, I would love the opportunity to help others if they need it and also obtain things that may be a challenge for me with my Spanish.
